Since the draft of the SMIL standard in 1995 many organizations implement one of the available versions of the W3C SMIL standard in there end-user products. Macromedia, RealNetworks and Microsoft have some products supporting the SMIL standards, but especially Microsoft with the more dominant role in the browser market have failed to support SMIL fully in the in the past.
